About Hancgrowth
Who we are and why we built Hancgrowth
The short version: we were frustrated by education that looked rigorous without being rigorous. So we built something different.
The longer story
Hancgrowth was founded in Melbourne in 2018 by a small group of educators and industry practitioners who shared a specific frustration: the professional development market was full of courses that made ambitious promises and delivered thin content. Certificates were issued after a day of workshops. “Outcomes” were measured by post-course surveys rather than any observable change in what participants could actually do. The founding team — drawn from backgrounds in corporate strategy, data science, and instructional design — spent eighteen months building the curriculum framework that underpins every Hancgrowth program before a single student enrolled. That framework asks three questions of every unit of content: does the student need to understand this, or just be aware of it? How will we know they've understood it? And what does genuine competence look like in a professional context? Those questions sound obvious. In practice, most course designers skip them in favour of filling a contact-hour requirement. We haven't. Since our first intake in early 2019, we've delivered programs to more than 600 graduates across Australia, with an employer satisfaction rate of 91% measured twelve months post-completion. The majority of our students are working professionals aged 28–45 who are making a deliberate investment in their capability — not just their CV.
What we do — and what we don't
Hancgrowth operates in a specific lane: short-to-medium professional development programs for adults who already have some career traction and want to develop a specific, high-value skill set. We don't offer undergraduate degrees, we don't run school-leaver pathways, and we're not a generalist training organisation that covers everything from barista certification to project management. Our four program areas — Data & Analytics, Strategic Management, Digital Product Fundamentals, and Professional Communication — were chosen because they represent skills that are genuinely in demand and genuinely difficult to develop without structured support. We are candid about where our programs have limits: we can give you rigorous foundational and intermediate-level competence in these areas, but we can't guarantee specific career outcomes, because outcomes depend on what you do with your learning and on market factors outside our control. What we can tell you is that 71% of our graduates report a measurable career change — promotion, new role, or expanded responsibility — within eighteen months of completing a Hancgrowth program. That number is audited annually by an independent reviewer, and we publish the methodology on request.
